The Best Luxury Hotel Rooms in Italy

Make your stay in Italy something really special with our collection of unique hotel rooms. From one-of-a-kind suites, to private pools and near-perfect locations to soak up the best views in town, here are our rooms with a difference…

The City Pad

The hotel: JW Marriott Venice
The room: La Residenza Pool Suite
Why you’ll love it: Summer in Venice can get hot and sticky, so having your own private pool to retreat to on sultry afternoons is bliss. Your pool and terrace look across the lagoon to Venice’s palazzos and campaniles – you’ll have cushioned loungers to admire the views from, plus a table and chairs for a post-swim cocktail or two. Inside, the decor has been inspired by the light of Venetian glass, so expect lots of creamy whites and pale sea greens. There’s a separate living room and bedroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let you enjoy those city views from inside, too.

The Seaside Retreat

The hotel: Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, Sorrento
The room: Caruso Suite
Why you’ll love it: One of the hotel’s spacious deluxe suites, the Caruso comes with a grand terrace overlooking the sea – and a fascinating history. The suite played host to Enrico Caruso, the famous Italian tenor, back in 1921, and still houses the original piano which he played while staying here. Another Italian musician, Lucio Dalla, stayed here 30 years ago, and felt so inspired by his surroundings and the story of Enrico that he wrote a song – titled Caruso.

The Countryside Escape

The hotel: Relais La Suvera, Tuscany
The room: Junior Suite
Why you’ll love it: Most junior suites have a little private garden – perfect for sitting out in the sunshine with a glass of one of the hotel’s organic wines after a morning exploring Siena or the Chianti hills. Try the rich red, made with Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, or sample the fruity white wine, which uses Chardonnay and Trebbiano grapes. Inside, your suite is decked out with exquisite antique furniture and objets d’art (and you’ll find more in the hotel’s beautiful museum, on the first floor of the main villa).

The Lake-View Suite

The hotel: Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Lake Como
The room: Rooftop Corner Suite
Why you’ll love it: Suites on the hotel’s rooftop floor come with all sorts of extra perks, including private butler service, complimentary breakfast in your room each morning and a customised concierge service. As for the suite itself, where do we start? There’s the beautiful Italian designer furniture, the antiques from the hotel’s private collection, the Loewe Art media system and the huge bathroom with full-sized Aquae di Como products. But the real draw is outside, where you’ll find a spacious private terrace with widescreen views over the lake – and a heated Jacuzzi to enjoy them from.

The Island Getaway

The hotel: Capri Palace Hotel & Spa
The room: Deluxe Room with private pool
Why you’ll love it: The Capri Palace Hotel & Spa has been the island’s purveyor of chic since the 18th century, with its colonial-style furnishings and refined colour palette. One thing’s for sure – this is style that has history. The exclusive collection of rooms and suites are no different, with elegant deluxe rooms poised for perfect views of the Gulf of Naples. It’s the outdoor space that’s the real winner, with your own private, heated pool (a full 15 metres square) and breezy patio area for soaking up Capri’s sunsets with a crisp glass of white.

The Lakeside Sanctuary

The hotel: Lefay Resort and Spa
The room: The Royal Pool & Spa Suite
Why you’ll love it: Situated in one of the prettiest spots in Lake Garda, Lefay Resort and Spa’s A-list Royal Pool & Spa Suite is one of the most luxurious places to soak up the views of the lake. At around 600 square metres, the suite includes a fully-furnished kitchen and dining area, with up to three bedrooms (one or two interconnecting Deluxe Junior Suites can be included on request). You get a private, heated infinity pool that gazes out across the lake, and the jewel in the suite’s crown is the private spa. It comes complete with sauna, steam room, treatment area and relaxation area, with a complimentary spa kit and products. If you’re ever left wanting, there’s a private concierge to see to your every need.
