5 Food Spots to Visit in Lake Como

One of the best parts about a holiday in Italy is that you’re almost guaranteed to eat well. But with so many choices for food spots in the Lake Como region, it can be difficult to choose just one to visit for each meal. Here are five of my favourite food spots that you should definitely visit when staying near Lake Como.

1. Il Gatto Nero Ristorante

For a romantic dinner with fantastic views over the lake and unique Italian dishes, visit this popular family-run restaurant in Cernobbio. Be sure to make a reservation, and for the best views, ask for a table along the railing. It’s is a great choice to celebrate a special occasion or for the last dinner of your holiday.

Via Monte Santo, 69, Cernobbio

2. Cantina Follie

Rated as the number one restaurant in Tremezzo on Tripadvisor (and pictured above), Cantina Follie is a cozy wine bar that’s off the beaten path. The food menu is small, but is a great spot to go to for a glass of wine — the selection is top notch– and aperitivo, the Italian version of happy hour.  Find a spot on the charming outdoor patio or enjoy the unique interior dining room.

Via A. Volta, 14/16, Tremezzo

3. La Carapina

It’s practically a sin to not make at least one gelato run when you’re on a holiday in Italy.  Located in Gravedona, this gelateria is known for its wide selection of flavours and inexpensive prices. There’s no designated seating but you’ll be able to find a spot nearby where you can enjoy your gelato with a waterfront view. And if you’re looking for a cake or dessert (perhaps for a birthday), you can pick something up here.

Price: £
Viale Umberto 25, Gravedona

4. Ristorante Rodrigo

Fans of Ristorante Rodrigo (pictured above) love this spot because of its delicious seafood dishes that don’t break the bank. I recommend visiting for lunch (the most important meal of the day, according to the Italians) so you can enjoy the views over Lake Como as you indulge in the catch of the day. The staff are just lovely as well!

Price: ££
Via Regina 7, Cadenabbia

5. Lido di Leno

Lido di Leno is a popular evening spot, particularly for the young Italian crowd—it’s known for having great cocktails and a fun atmosphere after the sun goes down. If you’re looking for something a bit quieter, you can take advantage of the 3-course lunchtime meal that includes wine, water and coffee for a reasonable price, views over the lake and the charming town of Lenno included.

Price:  £££
Via Comoedia 1,  Lenno
